About

On the sunny streets of Huntington Beach, California, HB Scooters was born from equal parts passion and purpose. During the 2008 recession, founder and owner Dave was looking for a change—not just for himself, but for the community around him. As gas prices climbed and traffic packed the streets, one thing was clear: people still needed an easy, affordable way to get around town, especially in beach cities like Huntington Beach.

With a background in the automotive industry and a lifelong interest in transportation, Dave started researching alternatives. After a few late nights, the opportunity became obvious: gas scooters. They were approachable, affordable, fuel-efficient, and—most importantly—fun to ride.

The following year marked a leap of faith. HB Scooters opened as a small 1,000 sq. ft. dealership off Warner Avenue, stocking everything from Taiwanese scooters and electric bikes to legacy-brand mopeds and just about anything with two wheels (sometimes three). As the shop grew, more of Dave’s family joined the business, along with a small team of dedicated employees. Before long, scooters wearing HB Scooters dealer plates began popping up around town and along the surrounding beaches.

Early on, it became clear that longevity mattered more than trends. To avoid burnout—and to make sure scooters weren’t just a passing phase—the shop’s philosophy took shape: carry quality brands, provide honest service, and make the riding experience unforgettable.

After several years at the original location, HB Scooters expanded just up the street to Gothard Avenue. The new space offered more parking, more inventory, and a larger service department. It also became a gathering place. Riders met up in the parking lot, checked out new arrivals, and built a community around the shop. Over the years, a wide range of brands passed through the doors, including Vespa, Honda, Yamaha, Genuine, SYM, Lance, TGB, KYMCO, Stromer Electric Bikes, Pedego, and even modern remakes of the legendary Cushman Scooter Company. Every brand carried was tested and vetted by the team—safety, reliability, and real-world usability always came first.

Fast forward to 2026. After 17 years of open doors, HB Scooters has expanded online with a dedicated parts and accessories store to better support riders everywhere. We focus on stocking quality parts for quality machines, helping keep scooters on the road while supporting the culture that surrounds them. Whether you’re a Mod, an old-school scooter racing enthusiast, or someone riding a modern two-wheeled machine purely for practicality, we’re here to help you ride with confidence.

Unfortunately, we have taken a step back from our retail location in late 2025 and turned our support to selling parts online only. We currently do not sell complete scooters or have an announced public return date, but are here with parts support for what you need to ride! Cheers - HB Scooters Family & Team
